Maybe you recall a while back, an Oswego Police Officer, had an altercation at a bar which revealed he was armed while off duty. The gun he was carrying fell out. Fortunately it didn't fire.
I haven't seen anything in the papers. Maybe someone could point to a website.
What happened to him? Was the whole issue swept under the rug like the motorcycle accident by the hospital, and thats another can of worms. I heard through the grapevine that his passenger lost a leg.
Back to the cop with the gun in the bar, I am struggling to find a reason why he chose to bring his gun in the bar. If the bar posed a threat to his safety, he shouldn't have been there. If he suspected trouble, and insisted on going in, the gun shouldn't have been brought in. He put other people in harms way.
I understand that the Police Department is trying to clean up its act and there are some excellent cops, contrary to what some folks around town think. I also think Capt. Dehm is the right man for the job. But unanswered questions can create suspicion. I want to know that there responsibility is being assumed and that there is an earnest effort to do the right thing in Oswego.
OK, I'm off the soap box for now.
