It was another enjoyable Harborfest! All the free entertainment was wonderful. Thank you to the commitee who puts this together. It was a job well done.

Harborfest
HarborMESS
Bah, humbug. Go away, far away. Go away for good.
By the way, after everyone is finished dipping their fingers into the honey pot, how about one of these years you publish a report on the finances of HarborMESS.
At least try to make up something realistic to include the tax monies owed the city and also include all the hush hush monies paid to police, fire, emergency services, etc for overtime, meals and all other hidden expenses.
Is it too much to let the taxpayers in on what it costs to bring those tired bands to Oswego.
Yeah, I know. Yada, yada and a lot more other tired cliches.

FWIW, I really enjoyed myself. I ate London broiled steak sandwiches, drank lemonade, ate more Gyros, nachos, walked around and had a good time.
But I guess you can't please everyone.
Don't like "Harbormess"? Don't go.

Well, I had a great time over the weekend and look forward to every year. It sure has come a long way from its humble beginnings.
The Gyros were excellent, as usual. The fireworks were outstanding!
I am happy the city puts it on every year.

But I guess you can't please everyone. Don't like Harbormess? Don't go. It's easy enough for you guys to fill your gut, see as much as you want, and then go home. Some of us have to tough it out for four days and nights of pure hell. We live there. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Wish we could say the same. Bah. Double humbug.

I live right in the thick of things by Sig Tau. If you make the best of it, it is a great time. If you can't beat them, join them.

Big deal. I hope you don't think that you're speaking for all of the people in the area.. At best, for 1%
Don't try to give everyone the impression that all the people living in the area are simply thrilled with HarborMESS.
Because they're not. All but you hate it.

Personally, I hope this was the last Harbormess for the city of Oswego.
It brings absolutely nothing to the town except drunks and families with unruly kids year after year. Costs the taxpayers for the cleanup and does little to enrich our environment. I agree that Oswego could do much better than a half-baked, poorly organized carnival with a glitzy fireworks extravaganza. Perhaps something that the locals could enjoy for one...like a few businesses that produce jobs!

If that many people dislike it, then I would have to believe it would be a common topic and would be more readily discussed by city officials openly. How about Pall-Times editorials against it?

I didn't go to Harborfest as I was away/just returning from vacation...However, I have spoken to many people (11 to be exact) and 9 of them said it was better than it has been...the other 2 said it was the same...
I think that there are just certain people who have decided that it is a miserable time so they are going to keep that opinion and voice it every year no matter what happens...
I know things aren't super/wonderful/fantastic every minute of Harborfest but it isn't ALL as bad as some people try to make it sound...
If they decide not to have it anymore, you people that constantly complain will then be able to complain that there is nothing to do so you win cause either way, you have SOMETHING to b!tch about!

The only complaint I have about Harborfest is, what about the little kids? There was a few shows here and there. Big deal. 1 ride at the carnival, the children's stage was a joke. Last year they had a bunch of airhops at Breitbeck, this year nothing but recuriters. I think they should bring back west park just for the little kids. They don't care about the music unless it's just for them. Just had to voice my opinion.

I agree! There should be much more for the kids. I was working down at Red Planet, where there were free things going on for the kids all day on Friday and Saturday, and it was all smiles. That's what Harborfest is all about: SMILES. And they are free!
