Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County (LVOC) is proud to announce that NRG – Oswego Harbor Power is a Dinner sponsor for their 8th Annual Captain and Crew golf tournament being held on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Greenview Country Club, West Monroe. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
“The tournament features a $25,000 prize for a hole-in-one, as well as cash prizes for First, Second, Third and Last place finishes,” said Michael Stanley, Golf Tournament chairperson. “Additional hole-in-one prizes include a Sharp LCD flat-screen television, a set of Big Bertha Irons from Callaway Golf and roundtrip domestic airline tickets for two.”
The event includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, lunch at the turn and a light buffet to follow. The cost is $60 per person, $240 per team. In addition, hole and green sponsorships are also available for $100 each.
“Proceeds help LVOC provide adults in Oswego County aged 16 years or older with basic literacy programs,” Murphy said. The ability to read is one of the most important skills needed in daily life but is often taken for granted. One in four people in Oswego County have below basic level reading skills. The goal of LVOC is to provide opportunities for adults to achieve personal freedom by building basic reading, writing and computer skills for free in a confidential environment.
Anyone interested in registering a team or further information on sponsorships may contact the office at 342-8839 or lvoswego@verizon.net. The brochure is also available on-line at www.lvoswego.org.
