Recently Mayor Bateman send out a letter to all City Employees. Those of us who know some of them [council members]personally, have been appalled at the crap thrown at them by IO posters and some I have seen here, only a few here tho. There are those like a certain poster on IO, who doesn't vote, but does live in the city. She has a lot of here-say to give out, her information about Mr. Harrington, is all garbage, stories, or her opinions. At the last mtg., a fire-woman accused him of being a peeping tom. That's is ridiculous. I know him and believe me, he isn't. The woman was assisted by Amedio, who probably wrote most of what she was reading.
TO Cleaning Lady..you are so wrong about EH. Many people are very happy about what he is doing in his ward, the ones who aren't are the old Gosek hanger~oners or the ones who will continue never to grow up. Yeah there are times where Ed, doesn't hold back, but he has lived in that ward for over 30 yrs and he has seen it being run into the ground by bar owners and slumlords, you try living in those neighborhoods for a few months..and you would feel the same way. I know a lot of those people and they are very happy with what he is doing. Others there are now belly aching, but they did nothing for over 30 yrs and let their neighborhoods go to rot. People were hung over who voted for EH?? NO I don't think so, the hung over ones were HALL'S VOTERS, HE HIMSELF WAS DRUNK,EARLY ON THAT ELECTION MORNING, HARASSING ELDERLY LADIES TO VOTE FOR HIM AT A POLLING HALL.. Ed has a lot of support from former business owners also, who can't believe the mentality in Oswego now. Do you vote in the City of Oswego,Cleaning Lady?
Participate in the POLL concerning this under polls.

I saw it to. Someone is in the dark. Bateman has every right to say the stuff he did. IO is just a home for the classless of Oswego.

Maybe EH is doing good in his ward but if the Mayor is going to REQUIRE city employees to be nice to him (the elected official) then he, as an elected official, should be required to do the same.
Is there someone you do not like? How would you feel if you were forced to be nice to that person? How would you like it if, no matter what they said, you were required to keep quiet and take it?
When I vote, I do so only for the people I believe in. And whenever election time comes around, it is getting harder and harder to do that.

Well, I have voted for 37 years. In the election in November, I did 3 write'in's' and didn't vote for US Senator from NY State. I did vote for Spitzer, Putnam and Johnson, plus YOUNG . I take voting seriously. The slandering of Ed, started way before before elections, sometimes it's hard not to retaliate when you are constantly being harassed. The OFD is way out of line right now, I agree with the Mayor's letter. I have been nice to people I haven't cared for for years, but being a mom and grandma, I have always been nurturing. I was the eldest of a large family and always had a baby on my hips from a young age. People know I love kids and always give me their baby's to hold, etc. That's me, others might not be like me. Also from Counseling others for years, I learned to look at some of them differently, but that is a learning process for sure. There are a lot of employees in City Hall that need to go, I hope that day comes soon!

You are nice to people even if you don't care for them by your own choice. Not because someone requires you to be.
If the city employees are going to be required to "play nice" then that should also go for the elected officials.
We will see how this all plays out.

You can respect someone but not necessarily like them.

I must say I agree with user7777. I work with the public (NOT in city hall). You dont have to like others that you work with but should always try to be respectful. I wish Ed was more respectful but seeing the mudd others sling at him I can understand where hes comming from. To bad he cant rise above them and take the higher road.

I think the intent of Bateman's directive is necessary based on current intentional disruption by those who are threatened by the drama at the common council meetings no less the other soap opera antics between other Oswego websites. It has become an all out war. Bateman is trying to quench it and he needs support by city employees to show a united front.
I see Alderman Harrington getting slammed for trying to do the right thing, regardless of his methods. The fire department seems to be trying to create dissonance because they are most threatened. Couple this with the rental property owners anger and IO is once again the joke of Oswego.

People earn respect, its not free and never has been. To write that you respect everyone is bull. You may say you show respect face to face but when the person turns around and you say something under your breath you are just a fake. You may be fooling yourselves by acting all holy on here but its just a illusion. Randy can request that city employees show respect on the job. What they do on their own time is none of his business. when you work for someone you do not have to become a mindless zombie with no opinion. I'm sure his waste of a letter is going to gain the council more respect from the people who don't like them. Randy needs to stand up and at like a man, not a little cry baby. This is still the United States and people have a right to voice their displeasures with elected officials no matter where you work.

I see all these fights against EH coming from people that are not concerned taxpayers. Ed is trying to fight to get our high city taxes lowered and in the process it looks like he has exposed some questionable practices.
I voted for for him and still support him. Those against him strike a vote for further Oswego decay.

I just posted on IO. I am sick of people who don't live in Oswego having input on things that effect our city taxes.

I totally agree with you, except I haven't posted on IO, the NO IQ as I call it, since October. It's a lost cause. The ignoramus' don't see things like the most of use see things. We call it reality, their in lala land!
They still think Ed writes most of the post on his site, the LION, which is stupid, I have been writing there for over 1 1/2 years, daily. I know at least 15 of the posters who post there, which includes one of my adult children, who also post there from time to time. I feel bad as Ed, gets blamed for my posts a lot! One poster, even today, is so convinced again, that my post is Ed on the LION, it's really comical to read her reasons why it is Ed. She has it all figured out every time, she is so convinced, it is Ed! Her whole purpose in life is to bring the LION and Chat down...but in reality, she has chased away most of the NO IQ's posters!
Ed, Dick, and Randy, are dedicated and selfless men. They work with the best interest of the residents of Oswego in mind. I have known Randy, since we were children, Ed and Dick not as long, I think the 3 of them are a big assist to our community.
I want to Thank all of you Chat posters who are supporting my friend Ed and the others who working for the betterment of our City.
