Dear Fellow Oswegonian,
I would like to take this opportunity to report to you on the status of our campaign for Mayor. Members of the Oswego City Democratic Committee have circulated my petitions and I will be on the Democrat line in the November elections. You will also find my name on the Conservative Party line as well as the Independence Party line.
Our campaign has begun to examine issues that seem important to the citizens of our community. Sometimes we think of a political campaign as running against someone, but I would rather have our campaign working for a better Oswego. This campaign will be a time to bring issues to the voters and also a time to survey what the important issues are for you, the residents of Oswego. We will run a positive campaign. A campaign I hope all Oswego residents will be proud of and participate in. If we are to improve our city then we must begin to talk about issues that are important to all of us. We must discuss ideas that you have to improve out community. It is that spirit that I ask you to share your ideas and concerns with this campaign.
The best way to find out what is on someone's mind is to ask him or her. I cannot possibly talk to all the residence (sic) of our city although I intend to meet as many as possible during the campaign. I can give everyone a chance to let me know what he or she is thinking through this newsletter. I hope you will take the time to respond so that I may have a deeper understanding of your concerns and ideas for our great city.
