I wanted to post something sooner. I, and maybe so of you, watched as Bob built his network of stores starting in the mid-80's and it looks like it paid off. Bob now moves into a well deserved retirement and his youngest son Jamie will be running the show at the Bridge Street location, which will remain called Wayne Drugs. Many of you who have known Bob through the years probably have spoken with Jamie as well. Jamie is a perfect fit and has many of Bob's outstanding traits. I think the success of Wayne's in the future is something we can count on. A true small town drug store that does not carry any corporate logo is certainly welcome in my book and I will remain a loyal customer, even if Bob's smiling face isn't as present as it was before.
Good luck to both Bob and Jamie.

Kinney Drugs acquires Wayne Drugs in Oswego County
Oswego County-based Wayne Drugs has entered into a sale agreement with Kinney Drugs.
The transaction will include the Wayne Drugs locations in Mexico, Pulaski, Fulton and Parish. The sale is expected to be finalized on Aug. 7.
The Oswego Wayne Drugs is not a part of the sale agreement with Kinney Drugs. Robert Branshaw, president of Wayne Drugs, will continue to own and operate this location. Branshaw began his pharmacy career with Wayne Drugs over 49 years ago, eventually purchasing the business in 1986.
Customers regularly see him behind the pharmacy counter as he is also the supervising pharmacist of the Oswego location.
The decision to sell was prompted by Branshaw’s approaching retirement. "I have been working 80-90 hours a week for most of my life," commented Branshaw. "I’ve finally realized that it’s time to slow down."
Branshaw had been exploring the option of selling the business but wanted to ensure that the buyer shared his commitment to the community, employees and customers. "Kinney Drugs became a natural fit," said Branshaw. "The values of our two companies are very much aligned. I wholeheartedly trust the people of Kinney Drugs to provide the same level of caring that Oswego County has become accustomed to from Wayne Drugs."
"Everyone at Kinney Drugs is excited to welcome Wayne Drugs’ employees and customers into our family," said Craig Painter, CEO, Kinney Drugs. "It is important to us that this transition be as smooth as possible for both employees and customers. We will go out of our way to accommodate the needs of all who are affected by this change."
All 31 Wayne Drugs employees in Mexico, Pulaski, Fulton and Parish have been invited to become Kinney Drugs employees. Fulton and Parish employees will remain working at those locations; the stores will remain intact and operate as Kinney Drugs. Due to the proximity of the Kinney Drugs and Wayne Drugs in Mexico and Pulaski, Wayne Drugs employees and customer prescriptions will be transferred to the existing Kinney Drugs stores in those markets.
"The Kinney and Wayne Drugs in Mexico and Pulaski are so close to each other that it would be too cumbersome for Kinney Drugs to continue operating both," said Painter. "I am confident that both Wayne Drugs employees and customers in these two towns will feel right at home at Kinney Drugs."
With the addition of the Wayne Drugs locations, Kinney Drugs will have six stores in Oswego County. Through its philanthropic foundation, Kinney Drugs has supported ventures such as the Oswego County United Way, the Oswego chapter of the American Red Cross and the Central New York Children’s Hospital.
Customers will still find Branshaw behind the pharmacy counter working part-time at the Oswego Wayne Drugs. His son, Jamie Branshaw, will be taking over as supervising pharmacist.
kinney Drugs is a leading regional healthcare organization. Founded in 1903 by Burt Orrin Kinney, the company has gradually grown into a network of 82 store locations in central and northern New York and Vermont. All Kinney Drug stores have free prescription delivery and online refill services. Many are freestanding units offering drive-through pharmacy services and one-hour photo developing. Kinney Drugs operates its own distribution warehouse to service its retail locations.
The company also operates three divisions that bring healthcare services to the customer outside of the retail environment. These businesses include: ProAct Pharmacy Benefits Management., a full service prescription benefit management company; HealthDirect Institutional Pharmacy Services, servicing the pharmacy needs of long-term care, intermediate care and correctional institutions; and HealthDirect Mail Order Pharmacy Services. Kinney Drugs is an employee-owned company headquartered in upstate New York.
Good luck to both Bob and Jamie.
