If what people think is true, I call this investigation a sorry state of affairs. It would be a good ol boys cover up.
I'm wondering if everyone reading this sent a letter to the Palladium Times editor that the taxpayers and citizens demand that the outcome be made public. Use your own words, the letters should all be different.
There is no need to state that this letter writing campaign is promoted by Oswego Chats.
This pussyfooting by our city officials isn't tolerated by us. A crime has been committed, no matter what the so called investigation says to the contrary. I just want someone to try to tell me that the accused, who are working for the city and being paid with taxpayers money, that this is a private matter.
If you are brave enough to write a letter to the editor, you might have to sign your name. Usually you give a phone# where the editor can contact you to make sure it is really you who is writing. But people do try to play jokes. They don't make your phone number public.
My husband and I are writing. I wonder how many of you will write? We need to light a firecracker under our good ol' boy mayor. A crime has been committed by city employees.

MANY WEEKS AGO THE CENTRAL NY CONTACT FOR THE NY STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL TOLD SOMEONE RELIABLE THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL MATTER. I WOULDN'T CONTACT BARCLAY, WRIGHT, OR MC HUGH, THEY ARE KNOWN FOR DOING NOTHING AND THEY ARE THE GOP,REMEMBER? I TRIED VERY HARD TO GET PETITIONS GOING 4 WEEKS AGO, BUT I FOUND A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WERE BELLY ACHING ABOUT IT, BUT WERE AFRAID OF RETALIATION FROM THE OFD IF THEY WENT AROUND WITH ONE. I HAD TO LAUGH, AFRAID OF THE OFD? SURE THEY WOULD SLAM YOU OVER ON IO, BUT THAT WOULD BE NOTHING NEW. THEY WOULD SIGN ONE BUT NOT CARRY ONE. NOW I AM CONTINUING WHAT I CAN DO BY POST AND CONTACTS. I WAS HOPING TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM EVERY WARD AS A CONTACT AND THEY WOULD FIND SOMEONE IN EACH DISTRICT TO GO DOOR TO DOOR. YES I WAS DISAPPOINTED, BUT I REALIZE, ONE SEED CAN BRING FORTH A LOT OF FRUIT, SO I KEEP PLANTING. YOU ALL KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING,SOMETHING HAS TO BREAK SOON! oswegolibertytree@gmail.com

There was somebody on the Lion came up with a pretty good idea. Lets all have a mass picket line at city hall to protest the mayors footdragging with the OFD audit and the crimes committed by Geers and Amedio. But then again, maybe it wont do any good. Our leader( ), Mayor Milktoast is never around city hall to take notice. A crime has been committed and it looks like nothing has been, or will be, done about it. I'll tell you one thing, if Randy Milktoast thumbs his nose at the taxpayers and tries to sluff this off, even if till after the elections. he's going to be very sorry if he has the nerve to run for mayor again. If any reader knows the Democratic city leader, tell him for me that if he doesn't have a talk with Milktoast, myself and many, many more voters wouldn't even consider voting for him, and I'm a registered Democrat. If that's the way the Democrats are going along with this do nothing policy, The whole slate is going to lose lots of votes I certainly don't want to see the Republican mafia get elected, so who ever decides to run on the Independent ticket will most likely be a shoe-in. No one wants bottom feeders to represent us. We've been through that already. It's starting to smell in Oswego. We need fresh air, fresh city officials, or fresh something.

re:TICK TICK AGAIN-MAYOR BATEMAN SAYS NO LAWS BROKEN-WEDNESDAY'S UPDATE ON OSWEGO DAILY NEWS
"So, first it was to be "at the end of the week", then it was "at the beginning of the next week." But, here it is the middle of the week and still no announcement from Bateman regarding what he intends to do with Geers and Amedio. What is going on? Is he having trouble finding loop-holes to use to let them off the hook? And no, I am not Ed H., even though every wacky poster on the I.O. site would like you to believe that every posting on here is written by him. They wish. I just am getting a little worried that this administration is going to turn out like the last one and let people off the hook for disrespecting our laws and laughing at guidelines our government has installed. NOBODY SHOULD BE ABOVE THE LAW. NOBODY. It shouldn't matter who they are, or who they are related to." 8-22-07
UNFORTUNATELY, WE IN OSWEGO-NEW YORK, HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE ABOVE THE LAW. CURRENTLY WE HAVE TWO OFD MEMBERS WHO HAVE GOT AWAY WITH A LOT, NOT JUST THE 911 CALL-EMAIL THEY PASSED TO OTHERS. HOW ABOUT USING CITY EQUIPMENT, USE OF VEHICLES TO GET FOOD AND OTHER ITEMS, CITY GASOLINE PUMP, WATER TO FILL A POOL [MAYBE SEVERAL], TIME AND SO ON AND SO ON. WE ARE SURE THIS CORRUPTION GOT WORST DURING THE LASTADMINISTRATION, THEY PARTIED WITH HIM AND HIS GANG. LETS SEE A CHANGE MAYOR BATEMEN, WE NEED IT, FIRE THOSE SIMPLETONS. ITS LONG OVERDUE.
NOTE: Afternoon- 8-22-07--Apparently Bateman made a decision after looking at all that was given him. So if it was determined that they didn't break any laws. How can we as residents be sure that our personal business isn't being passed on to others when and if we make 911 calls? Those OFD members involved are continuing to get away with so much, did those who gave that information to the Mayor consider that? I don't think so.
So now it will be looked at as to see if any further action needs to be taken with respect to the actions with those involved City of Oswego Employees-GEERS and AMEDIO. The investigation will not be made public. How cheesy, who's back is being covered NOW? AND I thought STERIO had been uncovering things. STERIO hasn't shown herself to be qualified for her position in the new administration, so why is she still there? V.N.M.

You grow up and live your life here. But when you start paying attention, you see this little town is corrupt from top to bottom. I bet no one makes issue because they don't think they can do anything. Its the same as it ever was.

From the Pall-Times
Facts ignored in mayor's whitewash
So. Mayor Randy Bateman says the legal probe of the 911 call is over and there's no harm, no foul. Bateman has arrived at this somewhat astounding decision - after weeks of footdragging - by choosing ignorance over key facts and whitewash over public responsibility.
There has never been a question that the Fire Chief Ed Geers was entitled to receive the audio clip of City Councilman Ed Harrington's call to report a minor fire. Yet, that's the point that Bateman chose to justify the whitewash.
What Bateman fails to report on is what Geers did with the 911 tape. In a remarkable show of poor judgment, Geers sent the message he acquired to Tom Amedio, the fire department's union spokesman and Harrington adversary. Amedio then forwarded the message around town as a way of diminishing and making fun of Harrington.
But Bateman wants to ignore what Geers actually did. Why? So he can then pull the issue internally, dub it a “personnel” matter and hide behind privacy laws to prevent any further public examination of what foolishness Geers actually engaged in.
No matter what veneer Bateman wants to put on this situation and no matter how he wants to stonewall, the public is owed an official explanation about what Geers did, why it was wrong and why it will not happen again.
What is obvious to all concerned are these facts:
Geers' actions were unusual given the fire report was hardly worth his attention. So, one can only assume that when Geers learned from someone at 911 that Harrington berated the 911 operator, he saw it as political ammunition to use against the councilman who has frequently criticized the fire department.
It's also safe to assume that once he heard the official recording, he intentionally wanted to place it in the hands of the person who might do the worst damage to Harrington. Enter the accommodating Tom Amedio who found the recording so funny that he sent it out to most local media. Amedio's role in this affair is almost innocent. In a way, he was manipulated by Geers. Amedio is entitled to his point of view of Harrington and he is entitled to politicize whatever he chooses.
Geers, on the other hand, is not. Part of his job is to protect from public harm and ridicule those who report fires and fire-related activity.
Geers has not done that in this case. Nor has he cared to offer any plausible public excuse or apology for his actions.
Bateman, Geers and the others involved in this joke of a “probe” would like taxpayers to believe that this is just a political dust up. It's not. It's about accountability and public confidence.
Harrington can be a hard head. He is often disagreeable. He does things the fire department abhors. What Geers did in releasing a privacy protected call is send an unsettling message to the rest of the Oswego community that if you are forced to have official contact with the fire department and the fire department does not like you Š Well, you get the idea.
