The Oswego County Legislature almost voted on raising the sales tax on gasoline tonight, even though the item wasn't on the agenda.
Minority Leader Michael Kunzwiler, D-Oswego, said he was concerned that if the measure waited until the Legislature's July meeting, it might not go into force until December. In the meantime, he said, the county would lose out on $700,000 in sales tax revenue.
County Attorney Richard Mitchell said the state revenue department would likely waive notification rules so the higher gas tax could go into effect in September.
No legislator spoke against killing a 2-year-old measure that charges sales tax on only the first $2 per gallon cost of gas. There is bipartisan support for the change, said Majority Leader Kim Seager, R-Phoenix.
Welcome to Oswego County home of the biggest asswipe idiots in the country. Michael Kunzwiler, Kim Seager, and the any of the Legislature who vote for another raise in taxes should be lynched. This is the typical bullshit that these people keep piling on the taxpayers. The County has lost almost all of its businesses and more are pulling out daily because of taxes and these retarded morons want to raise another tax. Between the state, city, county, and school taxes how the fu%7 much do these aszholes think the people have to keep giving? The state taxes are already 78% higher than the national average.
