A 16 year old BOY was killed yesterday because he and a friend decided to drag race at almost 4 in the morning.
According to a quote from his father in this mornings Post Standard:
"I did that when I was a kid myself," Dan Green said. "It's innocent fun. What more can you say? It just didn't make it with him."
Innocent fun??? FOR WHO??? Do you think it was fun for his friend to stand by helplessly watching him die? (Although MAYBE he learned a lesson!) Do you think it was fun for the first person who arrived on the scene after the crash and could do nothing to help the child? Do you think it was fun for the people who had to pull him from the wreck?
What more can you say??? How about NO!!! ?
This is what I call irresponsible parenting. He was just having fun risking not only his life but the life of anyone who may have been traveling that road.
I know some paramedics/EMTs who do not feel witnessing such tragedy and stupidity is "innocent fun". It breaks their hearts to see such a thing happen. They have a job to do and they do it. But it still pulls at their hearts.

This is just disturbing. I agree with you about the irresponsible parenting.
Here's what gets me. His son JUST died. It makes me wonder if he is in denial and doesn't really think his son is dead. I see no other explanation. Or he talks like his son was a casual aquaintance, not someone he loved. Something just doesn't seem right about the father's response. If it was my kid, I wouldn't even be able to give a statement. I'd be an emotional wreck.
