$50 million in mistaken refunds sent out by Medicare. The federal government erroneously has reimbursed about 230,000 Medicare recipients for monthly premiums they paid this year for prescription drug coverage. For many, the checks -- totaling nearly $50 million -- have already arrived. The rest of this story can be found at: www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/08/23/medicare.drugs.ap/index.html
Now...before about 230,000 checks and letters went out...don't you think SOMEONE should have caught the error?

Damn. Why couldn't I have gotten one of those checks? Oh, its because I don't receive Medicare. And the recipients, who are probably already confused about Medicare will get even more confused: "The refund will undoubtedly cause confusion, particularly because it comes with a letter that mistakenly instructs older people that their monthly premiums will no longer be deducted from their Social Security check."Can things get more convoluted? (Oh, nice use of color, TCL )
