How do you feel about the letter Mayor Bateman send out? Do you think it will help stop the slander City Leaders have had thrown at them?

I think he's just trying to show some professionalism. Can't have too much of that.

If he was to fire an employee for speaking out against someone (ED) the unions would rip him apart with lawsuit after lawsuit. The council members (ED) want to be able to make rude comments but don't want to hear the replys. Childish letter that will cause more harm than good.

So is the letter a line in the sand?
What makes the letter childish? Like GR indicates, I think it is an invocation for professionalism. Is that too much to ask from people who wish to be called professionals? And you point to a potential problem with the FD union, don't you. Abuse of power. Insubordination is not a good thing to do if you want to keep your job, in any line of work.
