I finally figured out why the Chat Site isn't taking off as swiftly as it maybe should.
It isn't easy , at least for me it isn't, to figure out the way to post new thoughts. It's not much of a problem to answer or add to another post. But I'm talking about a fresh thread.
When I first sign on, sometimes I forget how to start a thread. I look all over the home page for a box or icon that I can click to start a thread, but it isn't there. (or is it and I haven't discovered it?) After searching and more searching, I finally see where to click to start the new thread.
I could be wrong, but maybe this discourages other readers the way it does me and they say "the heck with it". Is there any way to simplify the process, and easier to spot?
The more fresh posts, the more interesting the site will be. FWIW

Are you using dial up? Why I ask is that on slow connections, it takes longer to see the icons show up.

Well crap. I wish I could figure out something to make it quicker for you to see, like a text only link but the website site up doesn't allow that. I'm sorry about that.

Okay , we tried. What gotta be, gotta be.
Actually, what I was talking about wasn't the speed. It was trying to find an easy way to start a new thread. Maybe there is an easier way to do it, but what I do is go to another page, usually the "General" site, and click on the little box at the top which says in small print, "New Thread".
I think that it should be more visual, more obvious. We shouldn't have to go searching for where to click. I can live with it. No big deal for me. I'm thinking of other readers and their limit of patience.
I'd like to see this site grow.

Well I can create a link to add to the header, but the way this place is set up is more like traditional web forums. Unfortunately IO and the LION "dumbed down" users that are fairly new to the Net. I mean it makes things easy, but the typical forum isn't used that way.
Back to what I was getting at, the new post needs to be classified into a sub-board, as a means to categorize. So if you want to add a new post, open up the board you feel it best belongs and then click on "New Thread".
A link that I could create would by default have to go to the sub-board I designate and I may end up moving it to the best board afterwards.
